TIPS ON THE TYPES OF EQUIPMENT YOU SHOULD HAVE ON HAND WHEN YOU BBQ & GRILLING
There are so many types of accessories on the market today, that sometimes one can become overwhelmed. We have compiled a short list of "must-have" tools, that really get the job done
1. Long-handled Tongs
- so you don't burn yourself. They're a multi-purpose tool perfect for turning and serving
2. Water Spray Bottle - in case of flare-ups
3. Wire Brush - for cleaning your grill
4. Extra Propane Tank - just in case you run out
5. Metal Spatula -- great for flipping whatever you're cooking
6. Clean platters - for transferring cooked foods to your serving area
7. Citronella candles -- good for keeping bugs away if you're in a bug-ridden area
8. Thermometer -- necessary when cooking large cuts of meat - unless you're an absolute pro and determining doneness of meats
9. Foil -- perfect for making little smoke bombs, and for a variety of recipes
10. Grill Light -- requirement for late evening grilling
11. Charcoal Starter -- if you're using a charcoal grill
12. Basting Mop -- have a few on hand for adding more marinade during cooking time
13. Metal Skewers -- try the square ones so your vegetables don't roll around
14. Your favorite rub, marinade, sauce -- always have your signature flavor on hand
15. Fork -- Please do NOT turn any meat with a fork -- by jabbing the meat you'll let all those delicious juices escape. A fork is best used for carving
This is only a sample of our equipment list, but we find that we only really need the basics. You'll see plenty of "cool" BBQ toys out there, but remember that most of them are simply gimicks and aren't useful in the long-term.
