BUSTED BBQ MYTHS

MYTH OR TRUTH?

- You Should Never Turn Meat with a Fork, or a Knife, because you'll lose juices.

TRUE: Use a good pair of tongs for turning meat. Using a fork, or knife will prick the meat allowing juices to escape, thus drying out the meat.

- Charcoal BBQ tastes better than Gas BBQ

IT DEPENDS: Ahhhh, the lifelong taste argument of Charcoal vs. Gas. BBQ'n or Grilling on Gas is faster and more contollable, but is the taste any different? Well, we're not going to settle the truth here -- we won't even try, because there are pro's and con's to both. Click here for our article on Charcoal vs. Gas.

- Cooking on the Grill Means You're Cooking Low Fat

NOT NECESSARILY: Just because you're grilling your food vs. using other cooking methods, doesn't necessarily mean you're cooking "low fat." It is realy all about the types of foods you choose. Yes, the fat does drip away from the food via the grilling method, but for truly low fat meals, you need to choose low fat foods. For example; chicken and fish have less fat than red meat. However, if you decide to cook red meat on the grill, it will have less fat when grilled vs. when cooked in the oven, where the meat can be sitting in it's own fat.
